This is one of our two pharmacy robots. The
majority of our medications are stored within this. Basically one of the girls or boys in
the dispesary will be typing up, for instance requesting a box of paracetamol, type in the
directions, the label will be printed next to them. Then this contraption will come and
pick it up, pop it into one of the over head conveyors and bring it to the computer space
next to them. So it makes the whole process much easier,
no more searching around in shelves for medications. It all comes to you and you can very quickly
get the label, get the medication at your side, combine the two and get it over for
a final check, hopefully speeding up the whole process.
In theory it should be more accurate than a person, so the computer isn’t bothered the
two boxes have the same colour, or the same size, it will read the barcodes. When it reads
them in via these conveyors here, it places them in allocated shelves and knows exactly
what they are as per barcode.
