Sam Blakemore, McWhorter School of Pharmacy

My name is Sam Blakemore graduated from Samford in 2005 with my sports medicine degree in 2012 with my pharmacy degree. I was planning on working retail pharmacy and had no clue that my last rotation would lead to a job. I’m the pharmacy manager for Peds RX Pharmacy Solutions. We serve as the outpatient pharmacy for Children’s of Alabama. I’m thankful for a lot of things that I did at Samford. A lot of things in my life happened on Samford’s campus. Graduating a couple of times, getting married. Nobody in my family knew what pharmacy really was. White coat ceremony was brand new, the thought of pharmacy was brand new, but along the way people you know the certain points in my life made that commitment to me they said, ‘Hey look I’m gonna help you,’ and whether it was undergrad pharmacy school or after graduation, there was people on the way to say, ‘hey, we’re gonna help you.’ Every time I was there I felt like people genuinely cared about me. It was almost like second home and so I think that’s the biggest thing with pharmacy choosing pharmacy school in particular you got to be comfortable where you’re at because you’re starting a new life and the people that you meet have a big influence on your future and can help play a big role in your profession because you know a lot of people that I met along the way those are ends up being the people that I work for now
